Civic Centre Redevelopment (Update August 4, 2010)
Redevelopment of the City's Civic Centre is scheduled for completion in September 2011. This work is underway and includes redeveloping the former library building, renovations to areas of City Hall and further enhancements to Civic Plaza. The lower east entrance to City Hall is now closed in preparation for future construction. Access to the upper doors near the Finance and Engineering departments is currently open however this entrance will be closed occasionally to allow construction activities to continue. When this entrance closure occurs, staff and visitors are asked to access City Hall from the main 13th Street entrance. Short term handicap parking and drop off parking is located in the 13th Street laneway. Click here for further information about the Civic Centre Redevelopment.

Fall Fair, 6th Annual Lower Lonsdale Fall Festival -100 block of West 1st Street - Sunday, September 19, 2010 – 10:00AM – 4:00PM

The festival is a fun FREE community street party that kicks off with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Lower Lonsdale Business Association. Main stage entertainment features 2010 Juno Award nominees Bobs & Lolo, who's latest album was nominated for Children's Album of the Year, the North Shore Celtic Ensemble, guitarist Robbie Burns, the Roque Messengers band and the Csardis Hungarian Dance Group. A demonstration stage will feature cooking demos, fall gardening instruction, belly dancing lessons, John Braithwaite Community Centre classes and much much more.

The street will be packed with displays and activities from local merchants and members of the Lower Lonsdale Business Association. New this year will be a contest for who bakes the best apple pie as well as prizes for home grown produce. So bring down that giant pumpkin or perfect zucchini and show off your grandma's favorite apple pie recipe!
